How to Automate Social Media Posts with Claude (Honestly)

Claude can plan, write and design your social posts through AIGE's MCP server. Which steps run from chat, what each costs in credits, and what stays manual.

Yes, you can automate most of a social media post with Claude: the brief, the carousel slides, the images, the short video and the caption. What Claude cannot do alone is make pictures or press publish on Instagram. It needs a connected tool for the first, and a scheduler or you for the second.

This guide uses AIGE's MCP server as the connected tool, because it is the one we run and can describe exactly. Every tool name and credit price below comes from the server as it ships today.

Step 1: Connect Claude to a tool that makes media

Claude writes the plan and the copy. For finished images, slides and video it calls a connected tool, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) is how you connect one: you add a server, and its tools show up inside the chat.

To add AIGE, follow the MCP setup page. Claude opens an AIGE screen where you sign in or paste an API key. Cursor, Claude Code and scripts take the key in their settings instead. The step-by-step version with screenshots is in our Claude setup guide.

What you make from chat uses the same account and the same credits as the AIGE studio, and it is saved in the same place.

Step 2: Start from a brief, not a prompt

The most common mistake is asking Claude for "a week of posts" in one message. You get seven generic captions. Ask for one brief at a time instead:

Write a content brief for a carousel about why our sourdough takes 36 hours. Audience: people within 5 km who buy bread weekly.

Claude calls antix_compose_content_brief and returns an angle, hooks, copy directions and recommended formats. The brief is saved to your AIGE account, so you can reopen it later instead of scrolling a chat. If you ran an Instagram audit in AIGE, ask Claude to read it first with antix_get_instagram_audit so the brief answers what the audit found.

Neither call spends credits. The brief tool is rate-limited, not metered.

Ask Claude to plan the slides. antix_build_carousel_blueprint writes a headline, body and image brief for each slide, plus a caption and hashtags. If the account has already been analyzed in AIGE, pass its handle and the blueprint is grounded in your real posts. A handle that was never analyzed is refused, not guessed at.

Then antix_create_deck turns the blueprint into a real deck: the same document the AIGE carousel builder edits, delivered to your Canvas. Claude shows you slide previews in the chat. Want slide 3 shorter? Say so, and antix_edit_deck_slides changes the copy without touching the rest.

Up to here you have spent nothing. Planning, building and editing a deck are all unmetered. Only illustrating the slides costs credits, and that step has two guards: Claude must name the exact slides, and it must pass a credit ceiling you agreed to. If the total would go over, the tool refuses and charges nothing.

Step 4: Generate the images and the clip

For single posts, ask for the images directly. If you need five different scenes, ask for them in one message: antix_generate_image_batch runs up to 10 prompts in parallel and charges them together, so either the whole batch queues or nothing is charged.

Prices are the ones in the app at the time of writing; the video cost page has the full table. Not sure which model fits? Claude can call antix_pick_model, which recommends one and estimates the credits before anything runs.

Generation is asynchronous. Claude gets a task ID back in under a second and checks on it; images usually take 10 to 25 seconds and video 30 to 90. If a generation fails, the credits come back automatically.

Keep one face across the week. If your posts feature a person, save them once as a character in AIGE. Claude passes the character's ID with each request, and the same face shows up in every image and clip. That is the difference between a feed and a pile of unrelated pictures.

Step 5: Publish, the manual part

AIGE does not publish to Instagram, and neither does Claude through it. The server says so in every deck response, so Claude should never tell you otherwise. You have two real options:

  • Export and post yourself. Download the slides or the clip from AIGE and post from your phone. For one account, this takes a minute.

  • Hand off to your scheduler. Upload the files to the tool you already use, such as Buffer, Later or Metricool, and schedule them there.

The one place Claude can publish directly is the AIGORA feed, AIGE's own creator community, through antix_publish_deck or antix_create_post. Captions and images are moderated first, and nothing posts if moderation refuses.

A weekly routine that holds up

  1. Monday, 15 minutes: one chat. Read the audit, write three briefs.

  2. Same chat: one carousel deck from the best brief, edited until the copy is right.

  3. Agree a ceiling: tell Claude how many credits the week may spend, then illustrate the slides and batch the single images.

  4. Before anything goes out: read every caption. Fix prices, dates and claims. Claude drafts from what you told it, and it will not know your Tuesday hours changed.

  5. Schedule: export, then post or load your scheduler.

Claude alone, or Claude with a media server?

Claude alone is enough for captions, hooks, a posting calendar and replies. You will still open a design tool for every image. With a media server connected, the same chat produces the finished slides and clips, with a consistent character, and they land in a workspace where you can edit them. The trade is that media costs credits, where text does not.

Quick answers

Question

Answer

Can Claude automate social media posts?

The making, yes: briefs, carousels, images, video and captions through a connected MCP server. Publishing to Instagram stays with you or your scheduler.

Can Claude post to Instagram for me?

Not through AIGE. Instagram publishing is not available; you export and post, or use your own scheduler.

What does it cost?

Briefs, blueprints and decks spend no credits. Images start at 4 credits and a 5-second clip at 40. You need an AIGE plan with credits to generate.

Does this work in ChatGPT or Cursor?

Yes. The same server connects to ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code and n8n.

Will Claude overspend my credits?

Slide illustration needs an explicit credit ceiling and refuses above it. For everything else, ask Claude to check your balance and quote the cost first.

Do this next

Connect the server from the MCP page, then paste this into Claude: "Read my Instagram audit, write one content brief from its top finding, and build a 6-slide carousel deck from it. Don't spend credits yet." You will have a real deck to judge before paying for a single image.
